CHANNON FARMS SANGERVILLE, MAINE
We are a small family that relocated to Sangerville Maine from Denver Colorado. I (David) came from Oklahoma where I was raised. My entire family came from Iowa, (Most of them actually came from the same neighborhood, weird huh). My wife (Blanca) came from a small town in south Mexico called Cutzamala. It is in the State of Guerrero. That is the same state that Acapulco is in. My wife went to University in Acapulco. She moved to the United States in 2000 and found the love of her life here. Then I met her. We had two daughters (Tiare and Jazmin) and after they left elementary school we felt Denver was not right for us so we bought an old farm about an hour out of Denver. We have been raising animals since. We all seem to have our favorites, but the dogs are universal. Moving to Maine was the best decision we made.
As a family we enjoy tent camping and fishing. My daughters enjoy Basketball and 4H. We usually spend most of the warm weekends doing “Horse things”. I am an avid hunter that has yet to have a successful hunt. I am considering giving it up.
Cleo
Cleo is one of our Females. She is Sofia and Dende’s daughter and she forced us to keep her. She is extremely affectionate, fun loving, and fiercely protective of our daughters. Cleo is my oldest daughters current 4H dog, she uses Cleo for obedience, Rally and Showmanship. She recently become a AKC good citizen certified.
Isa
Isa is one of our best bred females. She is the Granddaughter to Ober Von Bad Boll. Isa is the most compatible dog we have. She currently is keeping my Grandmother safe in an Independent living, because we all know how sketchy those Octogenarians are!
Sofia
Sofia, Sofia, Sofia! She is by far the most everything dog. Sofia is my favorite dog.( I know we are not suppose to have favorites and don’t tell the others.) When I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. She is the most loving, curious, demanding, intelligent, protective, attentive, difficult, and annoying dog ever. I think the reason she is my favorite is that I know 100% when the chips are down, she will be there for anybody in my family. If you’re looking to get a GSD for the first time this is a trait that many posses, and most people yearn for.
Ali
Ali is another one of our retired dogs. If I was forced to talk about one trait of Ali’s, it would be her intelligence! One day Ali unlocked a dead bolt with her mouth to go outside. She was my daughters first 4H show dog.
Hale
Hale is one of our males. He is Sofia and Dende’s son, but He now lives in Denver with my Mother. He is fun loving, protective, and extremely spoiled( my mother says sensitive). Hale currently attends a professional Dog trainer’s group obedience class. Likes long walks in the park and sunsets. Hale enjoys the outdoors, however, does have his own pillow on the bed.
Dende
Dende is one of our retired male dogs. We no longer breed him, however, we could not imagine life without this huge ball of love and affection.
Solo
Solo is another one of our males. He is a big boy and he loves everybody in his inner circle and has zero trust for anybody outside of it. He loves comfort! Solo has his own bed and loudly protests when another dog lays in it.
Max
Max is a Border Collie that helps us with the goats and cold feet while we sleep. He is not a breeder just another spoiled dog
Daisy
Daisy our chihuahua is lap dog and she takes pride in her duties. Listing under our dogs might be a stretch. She has her own set of rules
This next section is a difficult one. I felt it was important to list our Dogs that have passed. I have a friend that breeds Horses, and she always says “Every horse you own will teach you something you didn’t know before”. This is true with all family members I feel. So for us to move forward we have to reflect on how we got here.
Bella
Bella was our Doberman that left us way to soon. She was described as an old kind soul. I used to laugh at the reactions Bella would get from people when they saw a Doberman. People are actually more scared of Dobermans than German Shepherds! Not saying you should be scared of any dog its just the stereotype with the Doberman is a bad one. Bella helped break it. She also was 4H Showmanship and Obedience.
Abel
Finally we are at Abel. He was our first German Shepherd. I found Abel in a junk yard in Oklahoma. He was a wild dog that had been feral. The junk yard gave him away five times before me and he would show up a few days later. This Dog has more stories than I can type including the life saving variety. He is why we choose the German Shepherd Dog to breed. Abel was very small in stature but a giant in the world.
